Course Overview

This will be a half day medical education course designed to empower clinician educators with new skills focusing on coaching and using innovative assessment mechanisms that are applicable to any specialty. It will also be a forum to build the clinician educator community, troubleshoot educational challenges, and collaborate on new projects.

This activity is designed for Physicians only.

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

 

  • Identify coaching frameworks that can be applied in clinical teaching scenarios including at the bedside, during rounds, and for mentorship
  • Develop a framework for assessing readiness for increased autonomy in precepting trainees
  • Practice coaching skills in real time through clinical teaching cases
  • Identify innovations in coaching and assessment through the use of virtual reality and simulation

 

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
