Announcement from Undergraduate Medical Education

Our new leadership team in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania will be implemented in July 2019. The organization will support improved collaboration and communication.

Please allow me to introduce our team:

Anna Delaney has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Medical Education. In this role, Anna will oversee the administrative staff and administrative aspects of programs in UME and continuing medical education (CME). We will also liaise with Graduate Medical Education (GME) to facilitate the continuum of education at Penn.

The following faculty will continue as Associate Deans in UME:

Dr. Jon Morris, Associate Dean for Student Affairs

Dr. Horace DeLisser, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion

Dr. Judy Shea, Associate Dean for Assessment

We congratulate and welcome the following faculty as new Associate Deans in UME:

Dr. Jennifer Kogan, Associate Dean for Student Success and Professional Development

Dr. Nadia Bennett, Associate Dean for UME Clinical and Health Systems Sciences Curriculum

Dr. Dennis Dlugos, Associate Dean for UME Science and Discovery Curriculum

Dr. Neha Vapiwala, Associate Dean for UME Admissions

In Gratitude:

As we move forward, we look back with deep appreciation to Dr. Stan Goldfarb who has served as the Associate Dean for Curriculum since 2003. Dr. Goldfarb has been a leader at Penn for many years, and will continue to work with us in the CME office and in overseeing the Student Scholarly Pursuit program. We are also grateful for the work of Dr. Cindy Christian in bringing us exceptional students in her leadership in Admissions. Dr. Christian will continue to grow her Dean’s role in the Program for Diversity and Inclusion in community engagement, and will assume a new leadership role in orchestrating the Orientation to Medical School program for incoming students, as we enhance community building within our school.
