Announcing PSOM Internal Staybbatical

Dear All,

I am pleased to share the news that we are launching a “PSOM Internal Stay-bbatical” initiative. This program will encourage Penn faculty from various UPenn schools to take advantage of the opportunity for sabbatical experience and collaboration with a PSOM researcher, without leaving campus. The sabbatical follows traditional institutional guidelines, and is up to the individual faculty member to determine (in consultation with their Chair and Dean as appropriate).

Our goal is to promote the convenience and accessibility for faculty to engage in robust scholarly experiences within our own stellar community. The benefits for faculty participants are two-fold; to take advantage of the incredible resources available locally and to foster what will hopefully become long-term collaborative relationships.

We want to clearly recognize that any time a faculty member takes a sabbatical, there can be a loss in capacity whether that’s in teaching or other tasks. It is our hope that keeping faculty internal during sabbatical will be seen as a wonderful opportunity that has support from the various schools.

We are sharing this information ahead of distribution to the other schools for your information and so that you can become familiar with the program. This opportunity may be of interest to you, too, and we hope that our PSOM faculty will support this initiative whether it's in pursuing your own sabbatical or in supporting other faculty to do so. A flyer is attached for more information, please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lou
