Requested Information: (1) Brief personal statement (500 words maximum) including why you are interested in joining the committee and any relevant committee and/or policy writing experience you may have; and, (2) your short-form CV.

We seek to recruit broadly representative individuals in every respect, including faculty from the basic and clinical sciences. Eligible candidates will be faculty members in good standing at any level of their career on the AC, CE, or tenure-track.

Positions available: 3 

Expected time commitment: 3-year term beginning July 1, 2021 with required 60-90 minute once quarterly meetings; ad hoc, monthly 60-90 meetings. All will be “working meetings” with very little work expected in-between.

Committee Information: Previously, the Policy Writing Committee, a small committee of dedicated PSOM faculty and two undergraduate students, worked for a year to update existing and write necessary policies governing undergraduate medical education at PSOM. The committee’s work was put on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now being reorganized as a subcommittee of UMEC. The Policy Committee, chaired by Dr. Rachel Kelz, is essential to promoting innovative and effective undergraduate medical education at PSOM. Members of the committee will have the opportunity to collaborate with students and other leaders in medical education to develop and revise educational policy in accordance with the educational missions of PSOM and the LCME. Policies approved by UMEC will be communicated to the Medical Faculty Senate (MFS), and may require MFS ratification
