“Ask an Expert About ChatGPT and Its Potential Uses in Education”

With the breakthrough success of ChatGPT, many people are being exposed to large language models (LLMs) for the first time. Prof. Callison-Burch is an expert in natural language processing who has been in the field for 20 years, and has been using the OpenAI GPT model since 2021.

He'll explain how LLMs work, what they can and cannot currently do, and answer any questions that you have. Time permitting, Prof. Callison-Burch will show off some of his uses of LLMs in education, where he has been experimenting with scaling up his teaching with LLM-based "smart textbooks", and research where he's using LLMs to create explainable classifiers
