Funded Research Opportunities for Penn Faculty and Undergraduates
If you are a member of the standing faculty and interested in providing a Penn undergraduate the opportunity to conduct research in your group this summer, please consider applying for the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring (PURM) program. Briefly, the program works as follows:
1. Faculty submit a brief description of a potential research project(s)
2: The Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) posts submitted listings (see https://curf.upenn.edu/sites/default/files/purm_directory_2022.pdf for last year’s projects)
3: Eligible first- and second-year students review listings and apply for up to 3 projects
4: Faculty are notified of their selection status
5: Selected faculty review student applications and select which student(s) they would like to engage
6: CURF notifies students of their selection
7. Students are provided a 5K award to spend 10 weeks working full-time on research over the summer
This Provostially-sponsored program, is a wonderful opportunity to support Penn’s commitment to engaging undergraduate students in research as a central part of their educational experience.
