Health Law Fundamentals & Ethics in Health Care Innovation and Research

Instructors:

Theodore Ruger, JD: Dean, Penn Law
Steven Joffe, MD, MPH: Acting Chair, Dept. of Medical Ethics and Health Policy

Penn faculty and staff members are invited to take this online graduate course. This 6-week course pairs two 3-week topics. In Health Law Fundamentals (Ruger), students will examine the legal and regulatory aspects of the United States health care delivery and financing systems. In Ethics in Health Care Innovation and Research (Joffe), students will learn to critically evaluate the ethics of their specific research proposals, and will be prepared to justify their proposals to participants, funders and institutional review boards or research ethics committees.

Penn employees may use tuition benefits towards this course, which is part of the Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) curriculum. You may take this course on its own, or a 4-course Certificate for Penn faculty and staff is also available. Credits earned are transferrable into the MHCI.
