HMTF Pilot Award Program for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research

The HMTF Pilot Award Program

for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research

Overview:

The new Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation (HMTF) Pilot award provides $100,000 seed money to test novel and conceptually innovative ideas that can forge new scientific directions and strategies in MDS research. The one-year award supports non-incremental basic and translational research that include high-risk/high-reward or collaborative efforts that incorporate new technologies and approaches from other fields. If successful, the data from these pilot studies will generate critical preliminary data to serve as an onramp for their continued pursuit through more conventional grant opportunities.

This streamlined two-stage grant program supports diversity and independent early-career investigators. The application consists of a single page Letter-of-Intent requiring no preliminary data, and a Full Application, by invitation only. Download the RFA document here

Key Eligibility and Research Criteria:

  • Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and an independent faculty appointment at a non-profit academic, medical or research institution in the U.S. with their own institution-designated laboratories
  • Neither United States citizenship or visa documentation is required
  • The proposals must represent novel and conceptually innovative ideas specifically focused on MDS, exclusive of AML and MPN
  • While the program supports transformative basic and translational research, clinical studies are out of program scope
