Join the Penn Moves Campaign for Physical Activity!

Attached is an “info sheet” that we’ll use for promotion/websites/platforms, with live links. Here’s a quick overview of developments:

  • Time frame: Summer challenge, running June 1 – September 2, 2022 (ends the Friday before Labor Day.)
  • Goals:
    • Move: Be active throughout the day and track your progress. Submit active minutes to help us tally total minutes during the challenge. [Primary goal is moving more/being active – with tracking/submitting active minutes as options.]
    • Learn: Discover available resources to move more throughout the day. [Promote summary of Penn resources for both Penn Med + University side, plus community resources, including fitness apps. Also provide education/strategies for those at high-risk of inactivity.]
    • Share: Connect with colleagues at outdoor events and with social media! [Offer a few outdoor fitness events and use social media for staff/faculty to socially connect.]
  • Tracking options:
    • Penn Medicine: Submit tracked active minutes using the “Penn Moves submission form”, available on Limeade, plus will be promoted/available outside the platform.
    • University: Submit tracked active minutes on Virgin Pulse, or use the PM submission form, which will also be promoted/posted on the Penn Healthy You website.
  • Post-challenge survey: We’ll develop/promote a brief post-challenge survey to disseminate in September, so we can evaluate effectiveness.
  • Events – we’ll promote all Penn Med + University group fitness classes/Wellness Walks that are available during the challenge– but will also plan a few special Penn Moves events, including:
    • June 1: Kick-Off Wellness Walk, led by “Walks2Wellness”.
      • Additional events (dates TBD):
      • 1-2 outdoor fitness class(es), led by Campus Recreation.
      • Possible Penn Farm work day event.
    • September: Wrap-Up Wellness Walk (also promote post-challenge survey)
  • Social media: Campus Recreation has created a template and will run a variety of posts during the challenge (ideally post 1/week.)
  • Additional communications: All areas will promote using their available resources, including articles, email networks, social media, platforms/websites, etc. Special kudos to Janna, who helped with our “Penn Moves” logo development!
