Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation's Scholars Program

Colleagues,

The Macy Scholars program is designed to identify and nurture the careers of promising early to mid-career innovators in medicine and nursing who are dedicated to improving the education of health professionals. It is the equivalent of a career development award for medical education. Topic areas that Scholars might explore include:

· Interprofessional education to promote team work and interprofessional collaboration

· New models of clinical education that emphasize longitudinal, integrated experiences with patients, families and faculty

· New content in health professional curricula such as quality improvement, patient safety, systems analysis, health economics, and the social determinants of health

· Education of health professionals to care for underserved populations, including addressing the need for more primary care providers

· Programs to diversify the health professional workforce so that it more closely matches across many dimensions of the populations to be served

· Domestic programs that promote an understanding of global health

Potential applicants are encouraged to visit the Foundation’s website prior to developing a proposal (http://www.macyfoundation.org/macy-scholars). In addition, applicants should RSVP (on the website) and participate in the informational webinar, to be held on December 14, 2017 at 4:00pm ET. To participate in the webinar RSVP here
