Meet the Experts – The Story Behind the Breakthrough: Human Gene Therapy

On the occasion of 100 years of research at CHOP, we are celebrating the breakthroughs of our past, our present, and the future potential to further transform child health. As part of the celebration, we are inviting you to attend a five-part series called “Meet the Experts – The Story Behind the Breakthrough,” held in a conversational format with Maiken Scott, host and executive producer of WHYY’s weekly health and science show, “The Pulse,” who will serve as the interviewer/moderator.

“Meet the Experts” first guest will be Katherine High, MD, a gene therapy pioneer at CHOP and Penn, and co-founder of Spark Therapeutics. Dr. High will share her career path, explore the trials and tribulations of successful breakthroughs, and discuss future opportunities for the field.

All trainees, faculty, and staff from across the campuses at CHOP and Penn are invited to join us March 1 at 8 a.m. for this special Pediatric Grand Rounds that will launch the “Meet the Experts” series. The event will be held at the Hub for Clinical Collaboration (building adjacent to the Buerger Building located on CHOP’s Perelman Plaza). Coffee and pre-wrapped pastries are provided.
