Neuroendocrine Tumor Program Pilot Awards

 

The Penn Neuroendocrine Tumor Program requests applications for 1 year pilot awards, up to $20,000, for basic, translational, or clinical research related to neuroendocrine tumors. Applicants are encouraged, although not required, to make use of the resources of the NET Biobank and Data Repository, which include data from over 400 consented NET patients, as well as banked biosamples including serum, plasma, buffy coat, and surgically resected tissue. Open to instructors and all levels of faculty members at the University of Pennsylvania. Applications from senior postdocs will be considered in exceptional cases, with additional application materials required, as described below. Applications will be judged based on innovation and scientific rigor.

  • Cover Letter (senior faculty should indicate whether this is a new direction for them)
  • Abstract (must be aimed at the lay population; limit 250 words)
  • Research Proposal (specific aims, background, proposed research; limit 2 pages).
  • References (no limit)
  • Budget (PI salaries not allowed)
  • NIH-style Biosketch
  • (for postdocs) Letter of Recommendation from research mentor, indicating whether the proposal was conceived independently
  • (for postdocs) Personal Statement briefly describing career plans (limit 250 words)

 

 

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, September 27, 2021, without exception, with funding to begin on November 1. Funded applicants are required to submit a progress report (1 page or less) at the end of the funding period. If work during the initial funding period is successful, a second year of funding will be considered.
