New Medical Education Program Objectives for PSOM Students Approved

In January 2021 the Medical Education Program Objectives committee was formed and tasked with updating our medical education PSOM program objectives. The new program objectives will be used for PSOMs upcoming reaccreditation and will be used to guide student assessment. The objectives are broad statements of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that medical students should exhibit by graduation.

The new objectives focus on four pillars: 1) Foundational Knowledge and Clinical Care of Patients; 2) Infrastructure and Social Constructs of the Health Care System; 3) Leadership and Committment to Lifelong Growth, Improvement and Professional Development, and 4) Innovation in Medicine and Biomedical Science.  Each pillar as competencies and sub-competencies.

This work would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of the Medical Education Program Objectives committee: Jennifer Kogan MD (Chair), Rosalyn Schorr MSEd (Administrator), Nadia Bennett MD MSEd, Renee Betancourt MD, Alice Chen-Plotkin MD, Dennis Dlugos MD MSCE, Rebecca Ganetzky MD, Emily Gordon MD MSEd, Niels Martin MD, Jeanine Ronan MD MS MSEd, Suzana Tsao DO, Anna Weiss MD MSEd as well as the insightful feedback from multiple faculty and medical student stakeholders.
