Now Available: A New NIH Cloud Initiative

The NIH strives to provide the biomedical research community with cutting-edge tools and technologies to address ever-changing research needs. In that vein, I would like to introduce you to a new, exciting NIH offering—the STRIDES Initiative.

The STRIDES Initiative provides NIH and NIH-funded researchers with cost-effective access to cloud environments provided by industry-leading commercial partners, such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, to streamline data use, analysis, and sharing.

Your institution’s NIH-funded researchers may greatly benefit from leveraging the STRIDES Initiative to have easier and more cost-effective access to advanced computational infrastructure and tools in order to advance biomedical research. Over 200 intramural and extramural research programs from NIH and NIH-funded research institutions across the country are already taking advantage of the STRIDES Initiative and are experiencing a positive impact from using the cloud to support and accelerate their biomedical research.

To help your team make an informed decision on whether the STRIDES Initiative is right for your institution, here are a few resources:

NIH and our STRIDES Initiative partners have a dedicated team to help your institution decide whether and how this service can benefit your researchers. Additional resources and support are available to help you move through the onboarding process smoothly.
