Outstanding New Environmental Scientist (ONES) Award

The Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology (CEET) is currently accepting applications, on behalf of the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM), for the Outstanding New Environmental Scientist (ONES) Award.

The ONES Award (RFA-ES-21-001), offered through the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), is intended to identify outstanding scientists who are in the early, formative stages of their careers and assist them in launching an innovative research program with a defined impact in the

environmental health sciences. These R01 research grants are targeted for researchers who are defined by the NIH as Early-Stage Investigators. Applications must have a research focus on exposure-health related responses from environmental agents within the mission interest of the NIEHS. For most applications, the budget for direct costs should be limited to $250,000 per year, plus the portion of the additional $250,000 budget for career enhancement which will be distributed over a 5-year award period.

Only one application per School or College within a University is allowed. The CEET will coordinate the ONES Award application selection process on behalf of the PSOM. All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the CEET Executive Committee and a final nominee will be chosen to submit a full application to NIEHS. The CEET will provide a letter of support for the final application.

Applicants should submit a one-page Specific Aims and current NIH Biosketch to Jennifer Kuklinski (jkuklins@pennmedicine.upenn.edu) by December 30, 2022.

The selected PSOM applicant will be notified prior to January 20, 2023.
