Penn Master's In Education for Health Care Providers – Accepting Applications Now

Masters in Medical Education is currently enrolling the fourth cohort of physician educators. While some students have come from as far as Texas, Hawaii and Canada, about half come from the PSOM departments of Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Critical Care and Anesthesia, and Emergency Medicine.

The Med Ed program is a unique collaboration between physician educators and education experts coming together to provide a comprehensive, innovative curriculum designed specifically for physicians and other healthcare professionals.

The program offers those who are or aspire to be leaders in medical education the opportunity to receive master’s-level training in the delivery of innovative, evidence-based education, educational scholarship, educational technologies and leadership.

The format is designed to accommodate full-time professionals from a broad geographic area. Four day intensive sessions each semester provide opportunities for dialogue and experiential learning. Periodically, small groups also meet online to support the in-class experience. In addition, we recognize that participants are busy with full time professional commitments. For this reason, the course assignments and projects revolve around work they are already doing in their home settings.

Master of Education (MS Ed): requires completion of four blocks, each four months long, in the following areas:

  • Learning and Technology

  • Educational Research

  • Leadership

  • Master’s Thesis and Skills Development Intensives
