PennCME Updates: A Map of Your CME Requirements and New Courses

Dear Faculty,

I am writing to update you on recent progress from our office of Continuing Medical and Interprofessional Education (CMIE.).  We believe CMIE is a physician resource.  It should provide broad access, course flexibility, high quality, and convenient educational options.  During the pandemic, the office of CMIE sought to reduce barriers to course development and course access through the following:

  • Worked one on one with course developers.
  • Assisted learners individually and in teams.
  • Guided course transitions to virtual and back again.
  • Fostered the expansion of enduring materials and regularly scheduled series (RSS).

We now look forward to development of hybrid educational models as we move into a new era of continuing education.

As a culmination of these efforts, the CMIE team created a “CME Map” housed on the PennCME website. It reflects the geographic distribution of Penn physicians and Penn’s impact: Virtual CME Map: https://upenn.cloud-cme.com/default.aspx  This map visually represents each state, its CME requirements with links to Penn courses that meet those requirements, all free of charge. We are proud of the map as it represents the spirit of the new CMIE team supporting physicians at all stages of professional life, whether active faculty, alumni, collaborators, or learners.   We continue to build content for each state.  PA, NJ, DE, NY, and CA have complete links as these states have the largest concentration of Penn physicians.

With collaboration from physicians across disciplines, our website now includes many courses required for state licensure, including PSRM credits and opioid education courses.  These are currently available at no cost.  We anticipate having Child Abuse Prevention Course available by the end of September 2022.

We look forward to a continued strong partnership with the departments.  We hope you will visit the website, engage with the PennCME map, and continue to be lifelong learners in our office of continuing education.

Thank you,
