The Perelman School of Medicine is permitted to submit one application for this funding opportunity.  Applicants are strongly encouraged to carefully review the full RFA prior to submission.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to further advance the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities’ (NIMHD) mission by supporting Centers of Excellence to enhance research training and education of academic faculty (including post-doctoral fellows, junior faculty, and other early-stage investigators) in the conduct of minority health and health disparities research (https://www.nimhd.nih.gov/about/overview/).

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES: NIMHD focuses on the full continuum of causes of health disparities and the interventions to address these causes. Projects must include a focus on one or more of the following NIH-designated populations that experience health disparities in the United States: Black/African Americans, Latinos/Hispanics, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, socioeconomic disadvantaged individuals, underserved rural populations, and sexual and gender minorities (SGMs).

FUNDING:  Application budgets are limited to $500,000 direct costs annually, not including Consortium F&A costs.

AWARD PERIOD: The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum project period is 5 years.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Any individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research as the Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)).  Individuals from diverse backgrounds are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
  • Multi-PI submissions are allowed.
