Last Spring the Office of the Provost of Research funded an initiative called REACH (Research & Equity in Academic-Community Partnerships for Health). REACH aims to partner community-based organizations with academics to improve the health of vulnerable and underserved communities. 

REACH will do this by:

• Conducting high-Impact, community-engaged research that is mutually beneficial to the communities it is intended to serve;
• Increasing knowledge and awareness of the benefits of community-based participatory research; 
• Connecting academics to community-based organizations and providing academics with tools and training to partner with communities;
• Helping faculty disseminate and translate research to inform practice and policy.

The REACH team is using a mixed-methods approach, including a survey geared toward postdoctoral fellows and academic faculty. The purpose of the survey is to understand perspectives around community-engaged research and academic-community partnerships. Responses will help inform the final design of REACH. This survey should take no longer than 10 minutes of their time and is important to achieve promising research and equity in academic-community partnerships.

Eligibility: The survey is for faculty and postdoctoral trainees/fellows at the University of Pennsylvania. No prior experience engaging with communities in research is required to participate in this survey. Participation is completely voluntary, responses are anonymous, and no one will see individual responses other than the research team.  A summary will be shared at the aggregate level.
