ICM: Intro to Physical Exam
We are looking for faculty to join us for Introduction to Clinical Medicine in the fall of 2022.
You can sign-up for as few as 1 or as many sessions as you would like! If you haven’t taught students in the past, this is a great opportunity to get involved in medical student teaching in a well-valued course. Here are some details:
- Starting at the end of August we will have 7 sessions focusing on the mechanics of the physical exam.
- Sessions run from 2-5:15 pm and take place in-person at the Jordan Medical Education Center in PCAM.
- Preceptors will have 2 sets of 4-5 students.
- One group of 4 will meet from 2-3:30 and the second group will meet from 3:45-5:15 pm.
- The groups will work with standardized patients to practice physical exam skills.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any stipend for the course.
Dates Available:
- W, 8/24 or Th, 8/25: PE1 - VS& HEENT
- Vital signs, HEENT physical exam
- W, 8/31 or Th, 9/1: PE2 - Cardiac & Pulm
- Cardiovascular and Pulmonary physical exam
- W, 9/7 or Th, 9/8: PE3 - Ab & Neuro
- Abdomen and Neuro physical exam
- W, 9/14 or Th, 9/15: PE4 -MSK
- Musculoskeletal exam: you have Physical Therapy Co-preceptors
- W, 9/28 or Th, 9/29: PE5 - Full PE
- Demo your version and watch them do the full PE/choreography
- W, 10/5 or Th, 10/6: PE6 - Full Hx and PE
- Students spend the whole time running through a full PE
- W, 10/12 or Th, 10/13: PE7- Focused Hx and PE
- Students do a focused hx and physical; you discuss the case/DDx
