Teaching Intro to Clinical Medicine Spring 2022
ICM: Intro to History taking sessions
We are looking for faculty to join us for Introduction to Clinical Medicine in the Spring of 2022.
You can sign-up for as few as 1 or as many sessions as you would like! If you haven’t taught students in the past, this is a great opportunity to get involved in medical student teaching in a well-valued course. Here are some details:
- Starting at the end of March we will have 6 sessions focusing on history taking.
- Sessions run from 2-5:15 pm and take place in-person at the Jordan Medical Education Center in PCAM.
- Preceptors will have 2 sets of 4-5 students.
- One group of 4 will meet from 2-3:30 and the second group will meet from 3:45-5:15 pm.
- The groups will work with standardized patients to practice history-taking skills.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any stipend for the course.

- Wed, 4/13 2-5:15 pm Hx2: Full history-- Taking a full history
- Wed, 4/20 2-5:15 pm Hx3: Social history--Full history with a focus on IPV or substance use
- Wed, 5/4 2-5:15 pm Hx4: Challenging encounter-- An encounter that is challenging: OUD, overly familiar patient
- Wed, 5/18 2-5:15 pm Hx5: Advanced communication--Focusing on counseling NEW!
- Wed, 5/25 & Thurs, 5/26 2-5:15 pm Hx6: Focused history-- Starting to parse out what needs to asked based on CC/DDx NEW!
