To BPP Faculty Mentors and Postdocs:

Re: The Hartwell Postdoctoral Fellowship

The University has been awarded funds to support a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Hartwell Foundation. The fellowship must be in the area of biomedical science that is early stage, and cutting edge and should be used to fund research that will potentially benefit children of the United States.

Note that the Foundation does not support research in public health, epidemiology, social science, psychology, ecology, environmental impacts, anthropology, or botany. Also, postdocs at the Wistar Institute and the Monell Chemical Senses Center are not eligible for this competition.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is conducting the process to identify the postdoc finalists.

  • The Fellowship provides support for two years at $50,000 direct cost per year.
  • Hartwell Fellows must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate.
  • Hartwell Fellows must be citizens of the United States (not permanent residents).
  • The Fellowship may only be used to support scientists and biomedical engineers and are still in the early stages of career development
  • Fellows must commence their postdoctoral training no later than November 1.
  • Fellowship funds may not be used to extend or complete clinical training.
